In May more then 300 of the world’s best taxidermist gathered in Springfield, Missouri to compete in the 20th World Taxidermy Championship. A total of 571 entries from 47 USA states and 14 different countries did enter this years competition.

The first WTC was held in 1983, and the world of taxidermy have come a long way since then. The editor of Breakthrough magazine, the organr and host, Larry Blomquist, put it like this "I won everything you could win in the 70’s and 80’s. But it wouldn’t make a shadow of the quality of today. It will blow your mind. I get around the world to see good taxidermy, but the work in US is the best. A good piece have emotion to it. It’s very difficult to pull it off"
